Pale yellow in colour with hints of green. It has a highly intense, fruity nose, with ripe berries, citrus fruit, pineapple and grapefruit.

INTRODUCTION
The French Sauvignon Blanc variety, which Marqués de Riscal uses for this
varietal wine, originates from the Loire Valley region. It was introduced in
Rueda by Marqués de Riscal in 1974 and today the bodega grows 70 hectares
in its estate vineyards. Nowadays it is one of the officially permitted varieties
of the Denominación de Origen Rueda, thanks to its ability to adapt to the soil
and produce white wines with great aromatic intensity, good balance of acidity
and hints of minerals. The Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon is made in the same
way as the Rueda Verdejo. After a period of cold maceration, pressing and
fining of the juice, the must is left to ferment slowly at a controlled temperature
of between 13ºC and 15ºC, so as to protect the primary aromas which are so
peculiar to this variety. Once fermentation is complete, the wine remains in
contact with its fine lees in order to increase the sensation of volume in the
mouth and to improve its capacity for ageing.

Food pairing: This wine makes a perfect match
for all kinds of shellfish and pasta dishes. Ideal
as an aperitif.

GROWING CONDITIONS
The 2007 harvest was characterised by abundant rainfall of
462mm. The accumulated rainfall between October and
March (218mm) gave sufficient reserves of moisture, leading
to vigorous, even budburst. This proceeded correctly thanks
to the mild temperatures of April and the total absence of
spring frosts. There was heavy rainfall during the month of
May which delayed flowering and held up the growth cycle.
Despite a major risk of cryptogamic diseases, the health of
the vines was controlled perfectly throughout the growth
cycle. During flowering, low temperatures and constant rain
led to problems of coulure, particularly in the case of the
Verdejo variety. The months of July and August were hot and
sunny, but with hardly any hydric stress in the vineyards
thanks to the abundant spring rainfall. The mild temperatures
at the end of August and beginning of September, together
with the rainfall on 25 and 26 August made a better and
slower ripening of the grapes possible, giving rise to fresh,
highly aromatic musts. The harvest proceeded normally and
the grapes were brought into the winery in excellent
condition. The white wines have excellent aromatic intensity,
very good acidity and moderate alcoholic strength, ensuring
perfect evolution in the bottle.

TASTING NOTES

underlying mineral presence and a fresh and aromatic
sensation in the long, lingering finish.
